As the title says? I think by installing expansion joints, it should be possible to prevent oil and gas from leaking through the large blind flanges on the oil and gas lines. I’m not sure if this will work
Since oil and gas lines are prone to coking, after installing expansion joints, if coking occurs! Ripple cracks tend to occur during expansion, so from a safety perspective, it is not very suitable!
It should be feasible, but it’s necessary to take all necessary safety measures, such as regarding materials and anti-scorching measures.
First of all, it’s clear that the original poster’s idea is good. However, the layout of large oil and gas pipelines itself is already in an L or U shape, which functions as an expansion joint; therefore, there’s no real need to add another one. If set simultaneously, there will also be other side effects such as those discussed above. Just my personal opinion, for amusement only!
The designs developed by SEI include expansion joints on all large oil and gas pipelines, all of which use cold walls. The LPEC design uses hot walls for the horizontal sections and cold walls for the vertical sections. The horizontal section is cold-pressed. The two approaches are different, but either one is fine. There is no stress at the large blind plate of SEI, while there is stress at that of LPEC.
I don’t understand... We have two sets of SEI systems; one of them is under construction and it’s also a SEI system. Both use cold walls without expansion joints. Expansion joints shouldn’t be necessary in this case, right? As the person above said, it’s U-shaped
The horizontal section of the LPEC goes directly into the fractionation tower; if the SEI design does not include expansion joints, a horizontal U-shaped bend will be added to this horizontal section. If expansion joints are added, there is no need to install horizontal U-shaped bends in the horizontal sections. I have seen both of these designs; I’m not sure which one is more common these days.
