What’s wrong if the laptop battery won’t charge?

A month ago, the laptop battery was still functional. The day before yesterday, there was a power outage and then the computer stopped showing any display; only then did we realize that the laptop battery was damaged. . . In cases like this, what usually causes the problem? . . .
The person who came to fix computers at our office today told us not to rely on any overcharging protection features in laptops. When in the office, either remove the battery and connect the device to the power supply, or use the battery; charge it only when its power level is low. Batteries usually stop working after being used for too long
In my opinion, your approach is not scientific! Removing the battery doesn’t damage the power supply; it damages the computer! Compare the weight of the computer battery to that of the computer yourself. . .

Check to see if there’s a damage to the connection, or try replacing the battery with one from another laptop
