We operate a small ore processing plant; we have several dozen acres of land and dedicated pits for disposing of solid and liquid waste. We intend to extract nickel from laterite nickel ore with a nickel content of 1.8%.
Go and ask how many small-scale companies in China are currently involved in the processing of laterite nickel ore, and how many of them are actually making a profit. Given the current market conditions, it might be better to do something else instead
Well, thank you. We have friends who use eMule and other methods to process nickel-iron; it’s not profitable. I’m just trying to find out if there is any potential for profit in using acid leaching to extract nickel

The acid leaching technology for laterite ore is likely quite mature, but it is difficult to achieve profitability without operating on a large scale. For example, depending on whether your location is near a port, the shipping cost accounts for a large portion of the cost of red clay ore of this quality. What is the cost of acid? How to address environmental protection, and so on. For small factories, forget it. We have facilities for producing nickel-iron via the pyrometallurgical process here; we also considered using wet-process plants near ports, but given the current economic conditions, it’s difficult. Unless one has substantial capital and strong local connections, it is better to build factories directly in Indonesia or the Philippines. But one also has to consider the local power supply, infrastructure, market outlets for products, especially by-products, and so on.
Thank you. After checking, it’s true that the investment period is too long. We’re from Xuzhou, and it’s not far from the ports; the freight cost is 50 per ton. There are no environmental issues, as those can be addressed locally. The question is whether operating on a small scale can be profitable
