For a recent power plant project with sub-high pressure and medium temperature parameters, the client required that the main feedwater and main steam pipes be designed and manufactured by the factory based on the piping diagrams provided by the design institute. The equipment manufacturer asked the design institute to provide slope cut diagrams. It has always been our department’s practice to provide plan and elevation views, as well as axonometric drawings, for the main water supply and main steam systems. The hydrophobic points and venting points are arranged according to the on-site conditions. The specific location is not clear. I’d like to know how design institutes handle such situations. I have always believed that this part of the work should be carried out by the construction company. Do the design institutes still draw slope cut diagrams? Let’s not discuss for now whether it’s necessary to have these medium parameters processed in the factory!

I work in the thermal power construction industry; generally, design institutes are required to indicate the locations for drainage and venting on the system diagrams. The rest is completed in collaboration between pipe manufacturers and construction teams
The hydrophobic vent points need to be marked on the diagram, but this is done at the final stage of piping installation. LZ’s project may involve bending steam and feed water pipes, which will be prefabricated in the factory ; In that case, it is sufficient to provide the manufacturer with axonometric drawings.

Generally, for hydrophobic treatment, it is necessary to specify the exact location; for venting and draining, a layout drawing should be prepared, with detailed instructions given in the accompanying documentation. The actual implementation is the responsibility of the on-site construction team.
