How are the flow rate and head efficiency of centrifugal pumps used for transporting high-viscosity crude oil calculated? Looking up in a table is too unrealistic; it’s simply impossible to do.
It seems no one knows the answer! ! ! !
There is a specific book that discusses the effects of transporting non-Newtonian fluids, highly viscous substances, oils, and similar media on pump efficiency, head, and net positive suction head; I don’t have it with me at the moment. You might want to check out the book on mechanical products–pumps; it could be helpful.
It seems there’s no software or formula available for calculation!

That way, you can ask the people at the water pump factory to help you with flow rate, head, and efficiency. 2: The flow rate can be recorded; it will show the flow value. I think the medium is high-viscosity crude oil, so the pressure should be low, and head pressure isn’t very important.
The people at the water pump factory have formulas for calculating flow rate, head, and efficiency. I used to work at a pump factory; I’ve forgotten the formulas now.
Generally, pump testing refers only to the flow rate of water at 25 degrees Celsius
Hello, OP! High-viscosity crude oil is not suitable for use with centrifugal pumps. Because high-viscosity crude oil has a high viscosity, the efficiency of centrifugal pumps is very low.
