In the Design Code for Foam Extinguishing Systems GB50151-2010, section 5.2.3 states: 3 Water-soluble storage tanks shall be equipped with foam buffer devices. What does the water-soluble storage tank mean here? What solubility level is required for a substance to be considered a water-soluble liquid? I recently reviewed the designs from the design institute; even substances that are only slightly soluble are classified as water-soluble, yet I couldn’t find any evidence to refute this.
Solubility is determined by the solubility of a substance at 20°C. Insoluble, Slightly soluble, Soluble, Highly soluble: (20°C) 10g. Solubility formula: Solute mass/Solvent mass (usually water): Unit: g/100g of water. Since water-soluble solutions require the use of water-resistant foam extinguishers, slightly soluble substances are not considered water-soluble substances. For example, ethyl acetate is slightly soluble in water, and ordinary foam extinguishers can be used to put it out.
