Does anyone know what the typical distance from the bottom of a insulated pipe to the support surface is? It can be 100 or 150, and this depends on the thickness of the pipe insulation. But for pipes with an insulation thickness of 90 or 80, can a distance of 100 from the bottom of the pipe to the support surface be used? Is it too close? For the specific insulation thickness, can 100mm or 150mm be chosen? Thank you
If the thickness is 90 or 80, it’s recommended to choose a height of 150; 100 might be too close to the supporting surface
It’s sufficient as long as it facilitates insulation work; there’s no need for it to be too high.
There shouldn’t be any strict rules for this; it depends on the actual circumstances
sh3012-2011 13.1.2 For pipe supports with a thermal insulation layer thickness of 80 mm or less, a 100 mm thickness should be used. For insulation layers with a thickness greater than 80 mm, 150 mm pipe supports should be used. For insulation layers greater than 130 mm, use 200 mm pipe supports. Insulated pipe supports are used for insulated pipes. It is independent of the pipe diameter.
