In the desulfurization of light oils, alkali regeneration units are generally installed in order to reduce alkali consumption: catalysts are used to carry out catalytic oxidation reactions under air conditions, converting sodium thiol into sodium hydroxide and disulfides. There is the issue of venting oxidized exhaust gases in this process; what measures are being taken by the refineries where you work or that you are familiar with? We carry out high-point venting after incineration together with the fuel gas. Direct venting to a higher level is preferred; venting with nitrogen is not advisable. It pollutes the atmosphere, but it cannot be detected in the vicinity. A form of self-deception.
Burning it together with fuel gas also carries certain risks; it is necessary to carefully calculate the mixing ratio between the two, due to changes in the exhaust flow rate and composition, especially the oxygen content. Another thing to note is the issue of iron sulfide; attention also needs to be paid to the material used for these exhaust pipelines. 3# For the incineration of your exhaust gases, is this fuel-containing exhaust gas sent through a separate pipeline for incineration, or is it mixed with the fuel gas pipeline before being incinerated? What material should be used for this section of pipeline?
1) There were cases where exhaust was discharged directly from the catalytic cracking unit’s chimney, but this practice is generally no longer used due to environmental concerns. 2) Use a dedicated burner in the CO boiler of the catalytic cracking unit for combustion.
When it comes to incineration, attention should be paid to the issues I raised in point 4# – how everyone addresses them in actual design or production processes.
