Cylinder thickening length

There is a vertical vessel that uses ear seats; however, the thickness of these ear seats turns out to be insufficient. If I opt for local thickening, how should I determine the length of the section that needs to be thickened? How do I calculate it? I would appreciate some guidance from everyone
The shortest tube length specified by the standards will suffice; of course, it must be larger than the ear seat.
Also, the height of the ear pad plate needs to be taken into consideration, and the welds should not be too close to each other
