Gentlemen, the distance for venting the flames at the LNG receiving station is not sufficient; there’s no place where to vent them. What should be done? Excuse me!
Unless there are heavy components, an LNG receiving station does not require a flare; a vent pipe is sufficient.
That view isn’t correct, right? Without a flare, methane released into the atmosphere through vent pipes poses a serious safety risk. Moreover, this venting doesn’t happen for just a short period of time; sometimes it lasts for days or even weeks. With so much methane being released into the atmosphere without a flare, what would happen if it caught fire?
Methane gas defense is a conventional practice. But being able to clear one’s mind and having to defend against attacks are two different concepts. If it is left for a long time, two issues arise: environmental protection and cost-effectiveness. The original poster is right; if it needs to be left on for a long time, a torch should be used. There are now relatively economical methods for recovering methane-rich gases, and the practice of venting methane directly into flares is becoming less common.
