Can solar energy serve as a useful supplement to the power industry?

The capacity of solar energy is constrained by weather and day and night, resulting in highly unstable energy supply; storing it in batteries for later use would be an effective solution to this issue. The key issue is that the development of the battery industry has also hit a bottleneck, and it is hoped that this can be overcome.
Since electrical energy cannot be stored conveniently, using batteries is actually very costly, offers poor reliability, and makes grid connection difficult. A better approach is to combine solar power generation with energy storage stations; this may be limited by geographical factors, but once those issues are addressed, grid connection is not a problem. Hydroelectric generators are much easier to deploy than thermal power plants or battery systems, and aside from the high initial construction costs, their operating costs are very low.
As far as I know, the current share of power generation in China’s electricity grid is as follows: thermal power + hydroelectric power + nuclear power + wind power, solar power, bioenergy power generation, etc., 82+12+5+1
