The hydraulically driven stirring shaft experiences slight oscillation during rotation, and the shaft seal at the top of the tank is fitted with packing. Dust material inside the tank at the filling area is leaking out. Do any of you guys have any good solutions? Thanks in advance
It depends on the vibration level of the stirring shaft! If the swinging is severe, the only option is to adjust the mixing device to reduce the vibration! If the swing isn’t significant, you can try replacing the asbestos packing strips; will that work? No, it’s necessary to replace it with a mechanical seal.~

Is the reason for the leakage of dust material inside the tank at the packing area due to excessive swinging of the stirring shaft and high rotation speed, which accelerates the wear of the packing? How long is the lifespan of the filler? What filler do you use? Is there cooling water at the filler?
Simple solution: Try using a PTFE wound packing belt.

It depends on the amplitude of the vibration, the extent of dust leakage, the hazard level of the medium, and the degree to which the process is affected. If it is acceptable, ways can be considered to address the issue with the filler, and the root cause can be investigated and resolved during the regular maintenance ; If production really can’t proceed, then there’s no choice but to shut down the plant for maintenance
