HDPE is used for municipal water supply pipelines, with a diameter of DN300 and a pressure of 0.45 MPa.
Yes, it is possible to tap directly into a 1 1/2\" branch pipe from an HDPE d315 pipe (main pipe), using heat fusion welding; then, a PE stub flange is used for butt fusion to transition to the steel pipe.
This is not suitable; it’s better to first connect a section of HDPE pipe, and use flanges to connect the galvanized pipes – otherwise leaks are likely to occur!
