For tower granulation, what are the requirements for the filler, and why? Are there any specific requirements regarding the calcium oxide and magnesium oxide it contains?
There are basically no requirements regarding the filler; the key is to avoid using calcium powder containing calcium carbonate, to prevent the free acids in monoammonium from reacting with it and causing process difficulties
If the passing rate at 80 mesh is over 90%, then there’s no problem
I feel it’s better if the filler itself doesn’t have too much viscosity, or doesn’t form sticky substances with its main material.
Sorry, the original post was incorrect. I just checked and found that the main components of dolomite are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate. For the filler, in addition to a fineness such that 80% passes through a 280-mesh sieve, it is also required that the moisture content does not exceed the specified limit
When using dolomite powder, the oxide magnesium content should be greater than 18% (especially when it is used in nitric acid-based fertilizers); the particle size should not be too fine, as too fine a size can affect the viscosity of the slurry and be detrimental to the manufacturing process – a particle size of around 100 mesh is sufficient.
Most fillers contain calcium carbonate, and indeed, an excessive amount of calcium carbonate leads to a range of problems: for example, a decrease in the weight of the package over time is a major issue.
