In the PID, under the pump, there are labels indicating FLOW and △P. What exactly does this pressure drop refer to?
It should not be understood as a pressure drop; it is better to think of it as a pressure difference. It is the pressure difference between the pump inlet and outlet. Generally, the process team estimates the differential pressure of the pump, and the instrumentation team uses this value to select an appropriate CV value in order to achieve the desired opening degree of the outlet control valve.
