How to adjust purity in a single-stage distillation column

Our distillation tower is a single-stage nitrogen production distillation tower; it’s equivalent to a two-stage distillation tower with the lower column plus a main cooler. At the bottom of the distillation tower, there is a throttle valve that leads to the condenser-evaporator. The vapor passes through heat exchange with nitrogen in the main cooler before going to the expansion machine (we use waste gas for expansion). So, how is the purity of nitrogen adjusted in this single-stage distillation tower?
