What is the ratio for preparing the sodium humate solution used in gas production, that is, for humic acid coal sticks? How much water, caustic soda, and lignite (50%) should be added to achieve a sodium humate content of over 12%? ?
The method for extracting humic acid is as follows: In the binder extraction tank, first add about 5000 kg of water. Steam is introduced into the tank at a temperature of ≤40°C, and a mixer is started to stir continuously. Solid caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) in an amount of 125 kg is added in batches; it should not be added all at once using a hopper, but rather slowly through a rod distributor to prevent overflow. Steam is continued to be supplied for 20 minutes until the solid caustic soda is almost completely dissolved. Once the temperature of the alkaline solution reaches 90°C, stirring continues, and approximately 3–3.3 tons of screened lignite is added (lignite contains about 35% humic acid). If the lignite contains less humic acid, more of it should be used; the amount added can be adjusted according to the humic acid content. Steam is continued to be supplied while adding the material, with stirring ongoing throughout. Due to the chemical reactions that occur, heat is generated, producing a small amount of gas and causing the liquid level to rise. To avoid overflow, the amount of steam supplied should be reduced as appropriate, so as to maintain the reaction temperature between 95–100°C (it must not exceed 100°C to prevent overflow). The reaction is essentially complete after about 1 hour; a small sample of the extract can be taken for testing. It should have a dark brown color and be sticky. When pulled apart with the thumb and index finger, strands of material remain connected. After cooling, its stickiness increases while its fluidity decreases, indicating that the extraction process is complete. At this point, stop the steam supply and maintain a temperature of around 70°C, continuing to stir while waiting.
