When it comes to selecting air compressors, the quality of the compressed air is definitely a crucial factor. We must understand that one essential condition for determining the quality of an air compressor is that the air it compresses is extremely pure. Compressed air produced by ordinary air compressors generally contains a certain amount of lubricating oil as well as water. In some applications, the presence of oil and water is not allowed; this is the case with breathing air compressors used in firefighting. In such situations, it is necessary to pay attention to the selection of the air compressor, and additional devices may be required when needed. There are two solutions: (1) Use a lubrication-free air compressor. The cylinders of such air compressors basically contain no oil, and their piston rings and gaskets are typically made of polytetrafluoroethylene. This type of machine also has its drawbacks; firstly, it suffers from poor lubrication and a high failure rate ; Furthermore, polytetrafluoroethylene is also a harmful substance; it cannot be used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. An air compressor without lubrication can only ensure that the air delivered is free of oil, but not free of water. (2) Therefore, the common practice is to add one or two more levels of purification devices or dryers to the air compressor (of any type). This device ensures that the air from the air compressor is free of both oil and water, keeping the oil and water content in the compressed air below 5 ppm to meet the requirements of the process.
