Currently, there is a question: for large-diameter equipment flanges and heat exchangers operating at pressures above 4 MPa, can gasketing without an outer ring be used? I heard from some veterans that it used to work fine, but currently there are reports from the field indicating that it doesn’t seal properly. I would like to ask my colleagues, are there any specific opinions? :handshake
The flanges at the tube ends of the heat exchanger are uneven, allowing the use of inner ring gaskets. Our device uses an inner ring winding gasket.
The inability to achieve a seal is not necessarily due to the gasket; go to the site and check carefully for issues such as damage to the flange surfaces or insufficient bolt tension.
