Water flushing methods for process tanks in the tank farm: Is it possible to fill the tanks to a certain height (10 to 15 meters) and then use gravity-based flushing ( Rely on natural pressure)? What is the actual effectiveness of this approach? I would appreciate advice from those with more experience!
Actually, for self-pressurized flushing pipelines, simple pipes are sufficient; What’s worse, during pipeline installation, there isn’t just welding slag – there are also various types of sand and stones you might not expect to find. Even worse, there can be bolts, screws, and iron pieces as well; it’s not realistic to expect these to be pushed out by their own weight!
It is best to use compressed air for purging; comparatively, the static pressure inside the tank is lower
Water flushing is the only reliable method, but water, air, and steam all have their limitations; as a result, some impurities can only be gradually filtered out by the pump’s inlet filter after it has been operating for some time. One can’t rely on imagination; self-pressurized flushing definitely won’t work – where does the water go? Where does the water from a storage tank go? Should it be released right there? The purpose of the filter is to start the pump.
Steam purging is carried out using a steam service point to blow out impurities such as iron filings and sediment, after which industrial air is used for further purging. Isn’t that even more thorough?
