Is there a minimum requirement for carbon dioxide content in the purified gas from the low-temperature methanol washing unit supplied to the methane synthesis section? It cannot exceed 1.5%, but what is the minimum it can be? (Primarily asked regarding the methanol bypass in the decarboxylation section of the scrubber tower)
It depends on the requirements of subsequent processes regarding the components of the purified gas. In our case, it’s coal-based methanol production, so there are upper and lower limits; however, under normal operating conditions these limits cannot be met, so a bypass is not necessary

It mainly depends on the requirements of the methanation synthesis section. Generally, the heat released when CO reacts with H2 to produce methane is much higher than that released when CO2 reacts with H2 to produce methane. Therefore, a certain amount of CO2 in the syngas is beneficial for controlling the temperature of the methanation catalyst, which requires that the CO2 content at the outlet of the low-temperature methanol washing unit be kept between 1% and 1.5%.
The methanol synthesis bypass in the absorption tower is generally not used; it is instead employed by us as a means to adjust the absorption temperature in the lower tower
Role of CO2 in the synthesis stage: 1. The heat released during the reaction is much lower than that of the reaction between CO and H2, making it easier to control the temperature. 2. Prevent the catalyst from being excessively reduced to CUO, 3. Reduce the side reaction leading to the formation of dimethyl ether.
It mainly depends on the synthesis stage – what product is being synthesized; different synthesis products require different levels of CO2 content
