Winter has arrived – what are the challenges in using sulfuric acid for antifreeze purposes?
Starting and stopping operations in winter pose a challenge to preventing freezing in sulfuric acid equipment and pipelines; therefore, each department must do its best to ensure the proper operation of the equipment. It’s winter, and the frequency of inspections at various locations is likely to decrease accordingly. The administrative department needs to keep an eye on this situation, regularly checking the important equipment in each work area and addressing any issues that arise promptly. Add insulation cotton and insulation panels to the parts prone to freezing
After starting the machine, insulate and provide heat tracing for the acid pipeline, and check the drain regularly. After stopping the machine, use compressed air to blow the acid in the pipeline into the large tank, and continue to supply heat tracing
During normal production, it’s somewhat manageable; the main issue is anti-freezing after shutdown, as some pipelines absorb moisture
The large tanks as well as the acid delivery pipelines also need to be protected from freezing; in our plant, pipeline freezing occurred, preventing the acid from being delivered.
