May I ask: what is the difference between a randomly scattered and a neatly arranged pile of PTFE Baulch ring packing inside a tower?
As the name implies, loose-packed fillers are arranged in a disordered manner; there can be as few as 5,000 fillers per unit or even tens of thousands. Who would take the time to arrange them neatly? Doing so would significantly reduce the efficiency of such loose-packed fillers. Of course, it also depends a lot on the way they are piled up, but arranging them neatly in this way is completely pointless!
There is no difference; a Pall ring is just a random-packed packing.
To ensure the area of the vapor rise channel in the liquid distributor inside the tower, the packing near the distributor should be arranged in an orderly manner; a random arrangement can be used further up, otherwise it will cause a significant pressure drop in the tower
