Please discuss the methods for flushing the oil system before the first operation of large-scale units, the acceptance criteria, as well as the specific implementation methods and relevant experiences!!!!
Firstly, the oil system should be cleaned thoroughly during installation (especially when carbon steel pipes are used for the oil lines); it is advisable to include additional flanges in the piping design to facilitate cleaning; Before the unit is put into operation, the oil system must be cleaned first. Large-scale units generally have oil tanks, so cleaning the oil system is usually done through a cyclic cleaning process: first, a filter screen is installed at the flange before the oil enters the unit, or alternatively, an alternative pipeline is used to return the oil directly to the tank without it entering the unit. Once the oil system is activated, personnel are assigned to shake the pipes with wooden hammers. It is recommended to clean the filter screen every half hour at first; thereafter, the cleaning interval should be determined based on the cleanliness of the filter screen, until it is completely clean and free of any debris. Of course, the longer the cyclic cleaning takes, the better. For higher standards, oil samples can be taken for analysis, but sometimes time constraints do not allow this. Personally, I recommend that the cleaning time for the oil system should not be less than 6 hours. If possible, it is best to use a bypass pipe first; once it is approved, then connect it to the machine. After connecting it to the machine, it is advisable to flush each part of the oil flow sequence. Taking a piston compressor as an example, the connecting rods can be left uninstalled for now – first flush the crankshaft, then the connecting rods, followed by the crosshead (tilted at about 45 degrees), and finally the crosshead pins.
