May I ask everyone, apart from SS, what other materials are available for flow control orifice plates? For use in corrosive media such as 35% HF, what pressure level can PTFE withstand?
It should be the same as or higher than the material of the pipeline; however, for corrosive fluids, the service life of such flow-limiting orifice plates is also limited.
In my opinion, when selecting the material for orifice plates, erosion wear is the main consideration, while corrosion is a secondary factor. I wonder if everyone agrees with me; feel free to leave a comment!
I know there is alkali solution, and the design institute will use MONEL. Your case is HF; it is likely MONEL or Hastelloy B or C alloys as well.
Throttling orifice plates must be at least one grade higher than the pipes used, in terms of accuracy, safety, corrosion resistance, and maintenance. All of them are needed.
