But how can the remaining HCL inside the converter be completely recovered after shaking? If it’s just emptied, then over time quite a lot of resources are wasted. Does anyone have any good ways to deal with this? Please share your ideas. # &
Under normal circumstances, gaseous HCl inside the converter is not recovered, as leaks in the converter lead to a sharp increase in the moisture content of the gaseous HCl within that converter; recovering it would cause more harm to the other converters. Moreover, if recovery were to take place, additional pre-treatment equipment would be needed for that HCl gas, resulting in higher costs. In my previous company, the HCl was absorbed using water and then sent to a dilute hydrochloric acid storage tank to be sold as waste acid
We also wait until the converter temperature drops before opening it to allow hydrogen chloride to escape directly; the amount of hydrogen chloride gas in the catalyst and pipelines is not very large
Our company simply discharges it directly, or dilutes it with water before sending it down the drain
