For voltage and current measurements at 10/110 KV voltage levels, indirect measurement methods are generally used, as the voltage rating of instruments suitable for direct measurement is not greater than 1000 V. The measurement of high-voltage voltage and current requires the use of corresponding voltage and current transformers, along with voltage and current meters.
Regarding the method of indirect measurement, can a clamp meter be used? How should it be selected?
Indirect measurement uses an indicator gauge, which can display the readings without the need for a caliper gauge; if you insist on using a caliper gauge, you can tap into the wiring of the indicator gauge. Generally, the full-scale current meter for high-voltage testing is 5A at most; your meter can have a range of 0–20A. The value obtained from measurement is multiplied by the transformation ratio of the current transformer to give the actual current value.
