The factory created a MOC: originally, a fluid stream with a pressure of 7 kilograms was pumped into a buffer tank with a pressure of 3.5 kilograms. Now, an additional pipeline carrying fluid at a pressure of 16 kilograms is added, and this fluid flows into the buffer tank along with the original 7-kilogram fluid stream. The question is: will the 16-kilogram fluid stream counteract the pressure of the original 7-kilogram fluid stream?
Generally, it won’t. Imagine that the buffer tank is at atmospheric pressure; then, as long as the pressure in the buffer tank does not exceed 7 kilograms, fluid will flow into it
The pressure is generally not determined by the pump, but rather by the piping system... What type of pump do you have? A centrifugal pump or a positive displacement pump? There’s a big difference between the two
It’s best to install a pressure relief valve before the 16-kilogram fluid stream enters the buffer tank, in order to reduce the pressure of that fluid from 16 kilograms to 7 kilograms. And a safety valve must be installed in the buffer tank. That will do.
When the flow rate of that 16-kilogram material is low, it has no significant impact; but if the flow rate is high, the pressure in the combined pipeline will increase. As a result, the pressure difference between the 7-kilogram material and the combined pipeline decreases, and the flow rate drops.
