There are many ways to classify them. Let me mention one: based on the method of conversion, there is conversion of solar energy into electrical energy (PV panels), conversion of solar energy into thermal energy (solar water heaters), conversion of solar energy into chemical energy (water electrolysis). There is also conversion of wind energy (kinetic energy) into electrical energy, conversion of hydraulic energy (gravitational potential energy) into electrical energy, and conversion of biomass energy (chemical energy) into electrical or thermal energy
A university in the United States converts the heat generated by human bodies in its buildings, as well as the energy produced by people walking around the campus, into electrical power, which is then used to illuminate the university’s buildings, libraries, classrooms, and other facilities.
I think this is too exaggerated. First, there’s the issue of energy collection, and then there’s the cost issue.
