Generally speaking, Aspen Plus can simulate multi-stage compression, allowing the temperature and pressure at the exit of each stage to be set; it seems that HYSYS does not allow such settings May I ask, if I want to implement multi-stage compression while having the outlet temperature for each stage predetermined, how should I set it up? For the Hysys compressor, if you set the outlet pressure, then the temperature is determined; it has only 1 degree of freedom
Indeed, this is different from our actual situation. In a real compressor with two-stage compression, it is possible to include an intercooler in the design; after heat exchange, compression takes place in the second stage, and as a result, the power required by the compressor is clearly different.
Can’t we use two compressor modules with a heater in between?

There are similar simulations in HYSYS’ classic case studies: compression followed by cooling, then more compression and again cooling; simulation files are available on the forum
In Hysys, there are no multi-stage compressors like those in Plus; compression takes place in one stage, followed by cooling before moving on to the next stage of compression, with cooling again after that, and so on

Actually, this involves arranging multiple compressors in series – this is the professional design method; there is no simpler way, and it provides greater accuracy
