Unit commissioning and trial operation: The commissioning of the units at Yonghu Pump Station is divided into three phases: water filling test, no-load test, and unit trial operation. (1) Water filling test for S-type double-suction center-open centrifugal pump: After filling the water inlet tank with water, close all valves to ensure there are no debris in the pipes. Then slowly open the maintenance valve to allow water to flow in, checking for leaks in the pipes connecting the pump at both ends as well as in the pump’s water seal, and addressing any issues found on site. (2) No-load test: Confirm that the coupling is not connected, then start the water supply pump and the unit’s cooling fan. Turn on the device by closing the switch, and measure and record operational data such as no-load current and vibration. (3) Unit commissioning: Since the unit commissioning must be carried out in accordance with the operating procedures, a rigorous and detailed set of operational steps was established prior to the commissioning process. At the same time, the following points should be noted during operation. ①Before starting the unit, start the water supply pump and cooling fan first. ②After the water pump starts operating, tighten the compression ring on the pump gasket. Every 10 minutes, turn the nut on the gland half a turn, until the leakage is reduced to the minimum allowable level, which is generally 45–60 drops per minute. ③After operation, measure the vibration of the water pump, current, water flow pressure, temperature rise, etc. ④Since the units at Yonghu Pumping Station are controlled by a computer, after the manual high-speed trial operation, computer-controlled operations are carried out for a 72-hour test run, during which the on-duty personnel record all relevant data. After 72 hours of operation, a simulated accident shutdown is carried out based on past experience. Thus, the installation and commissioning of the high-power pump and motor units at Yonghu Pump Station are complete, allowing it to operate normally for water supply.
