I would like to ask some questions of those who are more experienced (senior colleagues), as I am working on a thesis: At what annual production volume does a refining plant need to be equipped with a flue gas turbine? How many flue gas exhaust fans are typically equipped in newly built large-scale refining projects these days? How many flue gas exhaust fans are typically installed in old refining plants? What is the relationship between the capacity of a catalytic/cracking unit (such as a 2 million tons per year catalytic unit) and the power of the flue gas turbine? Where can I find articles or data on the selection of butterfly valves for smoke exhaust inlet systems? I would be extremely grateful if you could offer some guidance! ! ! ! ! :)
Regarding the exhaust fan, I’ve seen units with a processing capacity of 1 million tons that are equipped with such fans; it mainly depends on the volume of air you need to handle. You can’t just use a toy-like exhaust fan for this purpose. For specific details, you’ll need to consult the manufacturers in Lanzhou and Yangpu Huaao Te. For catalytic cracking, there is one flue gas turbine; you can either equip it with a main fan and a three-stage set, or use a separate flue gas turbine for power generation. In any case, we can’t let the exhaust fan sit idle. Things like the butterfly valve at the smoke extractor inlet, as well as any information you’re looking for regarding smoke extractors, can be found on VIP or Wanfang. If you can’t access VIP, ask your classmates; everyone in school has access to it.
My classmates don’t understand it. . . I’m not from a chemical engineering background myself. I just need to use this data for a recent related paper. Regarding the issue of product selection, I’ve been searching on VIP and Wanfang for a long time, but I just can’t find it. . . . :'(
May I ask again? When you say “there is only one flue gas turbine for catalytic cracking,” do you mean that one flue gas turbine is used per catalytic unit, or that even if a refinery has several catalytic units, there is only one flue gas turbine available?
One smoke extractor per catalytic unit! This is necessary. Regarding the selection of exhaust fans, it’s best to ask the engineers in your department’s machinery team; they know everything about it. They were involved in the selection of the unit during the initial design of the installation. Also, you can ask the colleagues from the design institute, those in the mechanical equipment field – the designers have a good understanding of product selection. I think it comes down to the amount of smoke generated, or indirectly, to the main air flow rate of the device; and further indirectly, it relates to the processing capacity of the device and the properties of the raw materials.
There are flue gas turbines for 600,000 tons per year!
