In the ammonia synthesis system, there is a slight leak at the main flange at the outlet of the cooling exhaust pipe; the pipe diameter is 150 mm, and there is a slight gas leak between the flange surface and the gasket. Can this be fixed with simple measures?
It cannot be handled without stopping the machine. The solution is to stop the machine, relieve pressure, open it up to inspect the sealing surfaces, and then reassemble it; handling it while under pressure is strictly prohibited.
Can’t even trace amounts of leakage be dealt with?
Even a small amount of leakage cannot be dealt with under pressure; the pressure must first be released before tightening can take place. However, it is usually a problem with the sealing surface.
It’s possible to seal leaks while the system is under pressure; our company has tried this before, but the results were not good. It’s best to shut down the system first and then tighten the connections
It is better to carry out pressure relief for maintenance; plugging leaks while under pressure is quite dangerous
It is true that pressure relief and replacement followed by subsequent treatment is the most appropriate approach, but it’s not advisable to shut down the equipment in winter. Our factory usually hires professionals who specialize in fixing leaks while the system is still under pressure, and so far the results have been good!
How is professional pressure-based leak sealing carried out? Could you tell me the general situation?
You can go to the equipment to ask about it; it’s a specialized clamping ring, followed by injecting glue and tightening it
Finding a professional pressure-based leak sealing team will solve the problem
Too high pressure is not good; it can easily lead to increased leakage, which is quite dangerous
