The original O-rings were made of polytetrafluoroethylene (and they’re broken); now only fluororubber ones are available – I’m not sure if those will work The transport medium is liquid ammonia; the O-ring at the balance drum
In cases of urgent need, a layer of tape can be wrapped around the O-ring; even if the static seal swells, it generally will not cause leakage
Fluororubber must be covered at least on the outside; once the covering is damaged, the fluororubber will melt
O-rings coated with PTFE are also available; you can give them a try
Fluororubber cannot be used in environments with liquid ammonia; silicone rubber, EPDM, or perfluororubber can be chosen instead
