If thermal deformation of the valve assembly is significant under operating conditions, / if the diameter of this valve assembly is large, / or if the medium is in a two-phase flow state, it is recommended to install it upstream of the direction of fluid flow; guide frames or other devices can be installed downstream as appropriate. If the pipe diameter is small and the thermal deformation is minimal, fixed supports can be installed on both the upstream and downstream sides.
You may refer to 4.3.10 of the \"SH 3012 General Rules for the Design of Layout of Petrochemical Pipelines\": Among the two supports for the control valve assemblies on low-temperature and high-temperature pipelines, one should be a fixed support and the other a sliding support. According to this regulation, the fixed support can be installed upstream or downstream of the medium flow direction. For your reference.
