1. Operators: The competence and sense of responsibility of the operators directly determine the operating costs, maintenance costs, and service life of the boiler. Therefore, it is **strictly stipulated that boiler operators must hold valid certificates; such certificates must be within their expiration date. Currently, the validity period for boiler operator certificates is four years. Operators should be familiar with boiler safety regulations, follow procedures properly, and keep accurate records of operations and shift handovers. 2. Boiler accidents: Improper operation and use of boilers can lead to various types of accidents, such as boiler operation errors, deformation of the heating surfaces, tube ruptures, leaks at the joints of tubes, and so on. Upon analyzing various boiler accidents that have occurred over the years, there are many specific causes, but they can be categorized into three main types: a. Those caused by human errors and improper actions, that is, what is known as human factors. b. Caused by the unsafe condition of the equipment, that is, the so-called equipment factors. c. Caused by a poor environment, namely the so-called environmental factors. 3. Scientific management: During the use of boilers, we should strengthen scientific management. a. Water quality management: Proper water quality management is an important measure to ensure the safe operation of boilers and to save energy. If water treatment is inadequate and scale forms in the boiler, it not only reduces the strength of the steel components in the boiler’s heating surfaces due to overheating, but also causes a large amount of heat to be released through the chimney before it can be absorbed by the water inside the boiler. b. Operation management: During the operation of the boiler, it is necessary to conduct analyses, make judgments, and make adjustments based on factors such as the amount of steam used, the operation status of the equipment, and the combustion conditions. A record-keeping system should be established to maintain accurate records, including information on energy consumption, the amount of water supplied, steam output, operating conditions, the number of times slag and waste are removed, water quality tests, as well as details regarding fault resolution. c. Equipment management: To ensure the proper operation of the boiler, it is essential to carry out thorough equipment management, keeping the boiler itself, its auxiliary equipment, and instruments in good condition, accurate, sensitive, and reliable. Regular maintenance tasks such as sealing leaks, insulating, cleaning dust, and removing scale should be performed to minimize any issues related to air, water, steam, and smoke – that is, any instances of leakage, escaping fluids, dripping, or other such problems.
