Heat exchanger calculation

The design institute has requested these two values: K-values and alpha-values (for the alpha tube and alpha shell). What do they mean, and what is their use in the calculation of heat exchangers? I would appreciate it if someone could explain this to me.
K-values refer to the overall heat transfer coefficient of the heat exchanger, while alpha tube and alpha shell refer to the heat transfer coefficients of the tube side and shell side, respectively. After considering the thermal resistance, there is a computational relationship between them. Please refer to the textbook on chemical engineering principles, and you will understand.
