A few days ago, I went to the **Agricultural Science Academy to ask questions about silicon fertilizers. An older professor told me that there was no need to use any special silicon fertilizers; I just needed to spread the ash from coal-burning stoves on the soil, and that would serve as a silicon fertilizer. It left me completely confused. I had the fly ash in our area analyzed, and its effective silicon content is below 5% – can something like that really be called a silicon fertilizer? I really can’t figure it out; I would appreciate some guidance from those who know about this. Thank you!
Fly ash can be used directly as fertilizer. Its main benefits include the presence of various nutrients such as silicon, aluminum, iron, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and other trace elements, which not only supply nutrients to crops but also, due to its high content of spherules, help to improve soil compaction and repair the damage caused by excessive use of chemical fertilizers.
Fly ash as an agricultural fertilizer and soil conditioner: Fly ash possesses good physicochemical properties, making it suitable for improving heavy clay, raw soil, acidic soil, and saline-alkaline soil, and addressing their deficiencies in acidity, poor fertility, and compactness. It contains large amounts of nutrient elements such as silicon, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus that are essential for crops, which is why it can be used as an agricultural fertilizer.
Many silicon fertilizer factories use products obtained by grinding coal ash in thermal power plants; the effective silicon content in these products should be over 20%. You might want to conduct further research on this.
