Our factory specializes in the production of high-sulfur coke; the gas produced is mainly used for metallurgical purposes, which increases its value significantly. The coke ovens used are rammed coke ovens, with an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of coke, and the gas output is 34,000 cubic meters per hour. There are current issues that we are discussing with our colleagues: first, the initial and final coolers need to be switched frequently, sometimes even once a day; the reason for this is severe blockage by naphthalene. Secondly, the gas contains high levels of sulfur, as high as 15 to 20 grams per cubic meter before the benzene washing tower. Because our plant has not yet installed desulfurization equipment. Thirdly, in the tubular furnace of the crude benzene unit, the oil-rich pipes as well as the hot oil-rich and hot oil-poor pipes suffer severe corrosion every three to five months; they must be replaced entirely in order to enable normal production. Fourth, the sulfur ammonium production line has a low daily output, capable of producing only about ten tons per day. Discussion: First, what is the effect of replacing the ammonium sulfate process with ammonia washing? Second, how can the naphthalene content in gas be reduced, and what measures should be taken? Third, what methods yield the best desulfurization results? Can washing be used to remove some of the hydrogen sulfide? Fourth, what are the main components that cause pipeline corrosion in the crude benzene processing unit? How can these components be removed? What type of material should be used for the pipelines?
