When performing stress analysis on pipelines, under what circumstances should spring supports be chosen? Through which aspects should stress be regulated when it becomes excessive? I am currently lost in confusion...........
First, you should post the thread in the Industrial Piping and Stress Analysis section, rather than in this forum; My personal opinion is as follows: Spring supports are generally installed in areas where there is significant displacement of the pipes or where the pipe supports are prone to becoming unsupported during operation. The stresses should not be excessive, either in terms of primary stress or secondary stress. If the primary stress is too high, it can usually be addressed by adding more support points for the pipes. As for excessive secondary stress, the placement and design of the supports can be adjusted first; additionally, the direction of the pipes can be changed. If these measures still don’t work, expansion joints should be installed

Spring brackets are installed primarily to increase the flexibility of the piping system, and their use is determined based on the specific circumstances during stress analysis. However, when installing spring supports for pipes connected to equipment prone to vibration, caution is required. Stress failure occurs in two scenarios: 1) The initial stress exceeds the standard, and this can generally be resolved by adding supports. 2) The secondary stress exceeds the standard; this is generally addressed by installing spring supports, expansion joints, or changing the pipeline layout.
