I’m planning to learn about piping. I’ve seen discussions on forums about this; it seems that 3D software is used for piping, and drawings are created in 3D. I wonder how one should proceed with construction based on those 3D drawings. There are so many 3D modeling software programs these days – which ones do design firms usually use?
The 3D software ultimately produces plan and elevation views; at most, it generates single-pipe diagrams as well. No one produces 3D models directly. Of course, most 3D software can directly create plan and elevation views as well as single-pipe diagrams. The most commonly used software abroad is PDS and PDMS, while in China, WINPDA from Shanghai Yiyong and PDSOFT from Zhongke Fulong are widely used
