I’ve been thinking about learning Aspen recently and want to buy an Aspen D-drive, but I’m not sure what the differences between the following are. Could someone please explain the AspenTech products: AspenTech.Engineering.Suite.v12.1, AspenTech.ICARUS.Products.v12.0, AspenTech.Engineering.Suite.v11.1-ISO, AspenTech.Engineering.Suite.v11.1.SP1, AspenTech.Engineering.Suite.v10.2-ISO, AspenTech.FrameWork.v2.3 (an integrated application software developed jointly by AspenTech and IBM for use in the petroleum industry), AspenTech.PIMS.v2004-ISO, AspenTech.B-jac.12.0-ISO, Aspen Plus v10.0 Simplified Chinese User Guide (14.6MB), Aspen ONE 2004.1-ISO. Aspen is a company; all the products it offers are ASPEN software. It’s like KFC, which has chicken and fries – you can choose whatever you like, depending on your preferences. (Which software to use for what task?) There’s no need to compare what the differences between HanBao and ShuTiao are! There’s no comparison at all.
These software programs are mainly designed for different purposes. I’m not familiar with HYSYS, so I won’t make random comments either. From the description you provided for the software, it’s clear that the differences between them lie in the different targets they are designed for. 10.*,11.*,12.* are version numbers; the higher the number, the higher the version. I believe you won’t find these things on a single disc; if you want to buy one, just get the latest version.

Based on my understanding over the past six months, in design work, simulation calculations are only a small part; design involves a wide range of aspects and many different specialties (such as equipment, control systems, instruments, piping, etc.), and software has limited capabilities in this regard.
I’m sorry, but I can’t answer regarding the issue of piracy! Furthermore, software is just a tool; it depends on what area the original poster is researching. Software cannot solve all problems – it is merely a method for solving them. If you are only interested in chemical process simulation, it is recommended to start practicing with Aspen Plus 11.1* ； If performing dynamic simulation, use HYSYS 2004 ； If calculating heat exchangers, use HTFS 2003. Generally speaking, it’s quite good if you can understand just one of these software programs. The AspenONE Engineering Suite includes nearly 20 products, most of which are rarely used by domestic users! Please support legitimate products; piracy is only allowed for personal learning!*
I don’t know how much the official version of Aspen Plus costs. Last time I asked CNPC Aote, they said the price was 600,000 RMB, but many friends told me that Aspen Plus is only available for rent, not for sale, which has left me a bit confused
Software isn’t that important; what you buy is just a license. In reality, what is being purchased here is equivalent to a lease, as what you get is usually only the right to use it for a few years. You just buy a few discs to take home, but you can’t open anything with them (they’re not legitimate); you have to apply to the company for a license. The license is charged based on the product, usage time, and number of users, and it may also be priced according to the specific needs of the customer.
