It is planned to use a heat exchanger for the evaporation of methanol; currently, the threaded methanol feed stays at the bottom of the heat exchanger, and the heat exchange area is too small. Considering using a coiled-type heater, but I heard that the space in a coiled-type heater is too small and it’s easy for liquid to get trapped. The heat exchange area is also insufficient. What type of evaporator is popular these days? My volume is not large – around 200 L per hour
The material is evenly distributed throughout the heating tubes of the evaporator by a distribution device. Under the influence of gravity, vacuum, and air currents, it flows in a film-like manner from top to bottom; during this movement, it undergoes heat exchange with the steam heating the outer walls of the heating tubes, resulting in evaporation.
A regular evaporator will suffice; if entrainment is severe, consider installing a swirl chamber at the location where the waste steam is condensed at the end, in order to reduce entrainment
I have just designed an evaporator; to prevent liquid entrainment, I used a double-row coil arrangement with two inlets and two outlets, in an upper-inlet lower-outlet configuration.
Upstairs, could we have a more detailed discussion? Last time someone suggested that I use two shell-and-tube exchangers, which seems similar to your approach
