I’m currently using a HONEYWELL DCS spherical monitor purchased in 1996; it’s severely worn out, so I replaced it with a flat monitor after making some modifications. Unfortunately, the original spherical monitor had an infrared touch screen, and now that it’s been replaced with a flat one, it’s very inconvenient to use. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience (the original spherical monitors are too expensive and belong to outdated models). It’s just an *habitual issue of the operator
Nowadays, liquid crystals are used most of the time! As for that infrared touch screen, it will get used to mouse operations over time.
Now industrial computers come with dedicated monitors, haha

We have been studying the displays of the Honeywell TDC3000 and TPS system operation stations for many years. The problems you mentioned are mainly caused by this factor: the touchscreens originally used on those spherical displays were designed for spherical contact, and now that a flat touchscreen is used, there is a positioning issue, requiring multiple clicks while the finger is hovering near the screen. We have solved this issue by developing LCD displays (including touch screens) that offer accurate positioning, are safe and reliable, and can be seamlessly integrated with existing control stations. The second alternative is to use a mouse translator, namely the mouse translator for the TDC/TPS system operation station. Since the original control stations all used a touch screen combined with a trackball, we developed a dedicated mouse translator that allows standard mice to be used for connecting to these control stations.
