I’m about to start working on my graduation project. My major is chemical engineering – what is the format for such a project? How should it be written? Specifically, it involves designing a certain chemical processing unit. Thank you.
What should be prepared for the defense?
If the paper is written carefully by oneself, there should be no problems during the defense. As for how to write the design section, I believe that it mainly involves material balance and energy balance, calculations and selection for pipeline design, as well as the selection of equipment. Of course, it can also include information related to the designed product (such as production process, principles, properties, future prospects, applications, etc.), along with data on economic analysis. I haven’t been involved in design for a few years; just some personal opinions. (I’m only talking about my own memories of writing designs for university; I have no idea about designing for a master’s degree or higher.) )

I agree with dwll’s view; a graduation project is very important as it helps develop many useful skills, such as how to organize materials and how to find information. It can also cultivate a person’s ability to conduct independent research. With this experience, working in the future will be much easier. As for how to write and what to write, there are mentors who provide specific guidance. The issue is that one must write with care, rather than treating it as a mere formality.

I’m the same as you; I majored in chemical engineering. We first carry out the second practical assignment, during which we get to know the basic aspects of design. Then, facing the problems that arise from this assignment, we conduct experiments carefully, with a spirit of exploration and questioning. We take careful notes of the experimental data, and in our graduation project, we use these data along with our own opinions to discuss and analyze them.
