●Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group’s 830,000 tons/year dimethyl ether project, 520,000 tons/year coal-based olefins project (MTP), and 3.2 million tons/year coal-to-oil project (with an investment of 28.8 billion yuan). ● Yunnan Petrochemical Group/Xinyunwei Group Co., Ltd.’s 2.5 million tons/year methanol project, along with a second phase coal-based olefins project (2008–2012). ● Datang International’s 460,000 tons/year coal-based olefins project. ● Dow Chemical and Shenhua’s 600,000 tons/year methanol-to-olefins project. ● Yankuang Group’s 500,000 tons/year methanol-to-olefins project. ● Newao Group and Ordos City’s first phase 400,000 tons/year dimethyl ether project, and second phase 2.4 million tons/year methanol project, both based on methanol-to-olefins technology. ● Shenhua Dow’s 3 million tons/year methanol project and 1 million tons/year coal-based olefins project. ● Shenhua Yulin’s 10 million tons/year coal indirect liquefaction project. ● Shenhua Group, Kerry Chemical Co., Ltd., Shanghai Huayi (Group) Co., Ltd., and Baotou Tomorrow Technology Co., Ltd.’s 1.8 million tons/year methanol project and 600,000 tons/year coal-based olefins project, with an investment of 11.56 billion yuan; construction began on October 28, 2005. ● Shenhua Group’s coal direct liquefaction projects: 3.2 million tons in 2007, 5 million tons in 2010, 15 million tons in 2015, and 20 million tons in 2020; construction started on August 25, 2004. ● Orchid Group, **Huaming Group, Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology Group, and Indonesia’s Golden Agri-Resources’ first phase 200,000 tons/year methanol project, first phase 100,000 tons/year dimethyl ether project (totaling 1 million tons/year), and 600,000 tons/year propylene project, with an investment of 33.8 billion yuan; construction began in April 2006. ● Inner Mongolia Yitai Group’s indirect coal-to-oil project, construction started in May 2006; the first phase has an annual production capacity of 160,000 tons, and it was put into operation in the first half of 2008； Phase 2 reached 1.5 million tons per year in 2010 ； In Phase 3, a refining capacity of 5 million tons per year was established in 2015. This project is part of the **“863” program**; its core technology was approved by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in October 2004, and it passed the evaluation by the Ministry of Science and Technology in September 2005. The 160,000 tons per year coal-to-oil project at the Shanxi Lu’an Coal-based Synthetic Oil Demonstration Plant (with a final capacity of 5.2 million tons per year) began operations in 2006. Shandong Yankuang Group has a coal-to-oil project with a capacity of over 1 million tons per year in Guizhou, involving an investment of 10 billion yuan. Another project by Shandong Yankuang Group in Shaanxi has a capacity of 600,000 tons per year of methanol, with the ultimate goal of reaching 2.3 million tons per year. Xuzhou Mining Group’s coal-to-oil project has an initial capacity of 480,000 tons per year, with the goal of reaching 3 million tons per year by 2015; the investment for this project is 5 billion yuan. Inner Mongolia Yitai’s coal-to-oil project has a capacity of 480,000 tons per year, with the first phase having a capacity of 160,000 tons per year; the investment for this phase is 5 billion yuan, and construction began in May 2006. There is also a coal-to-oil project in Shanyang Town, Jinshan District, Shanghai, in partnership with the American company Zhonghuan International, involving an investment of 5 billion US dollars. Shenhua Group has a coal-to-oil project with a capacity of 3.2 million tons per year in Xinjiang. Shenhua Xinjiang Company has a coal-to-oil project with a capacity of 1 million tons per year (with a final capacity of 5 million tons per year). Xinwen Mining Group has a methanol project with a capacity of 5.4 million tons per year, as well as an olefin project with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year. Yankuang Yulin has a coal indirect liquefaction project with a capacity of 1 million tons per year (with a final capacity of 10 million tons per year), along with methanol projects with capacities of 600,000 tons and 1.7 million tons per year, and an olefin project with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year. On April 21, 2006, the Yuheng Coal Chemical Industry Zone in Yulin City was inaugurated, and the groundbreaking ceremony for Yankuang Yulin’s 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil project was held. With an investment of 12 billion yuan, this project was scheduled to be completed by 2009. ● Pingzhuang Coal Industry and China Zekai Group’s 1.6 million tons per year methanol project, with an investment of 8 billion yuan. ● Henan Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 1.5 million tons per year methanol project, requiring an investment of 19.2 billion yuan. ● Shenhua and Hulunbuir City’s 1.8 million tons per year olefin project, with an investment of 70 billion yuan (16 billion yuan for the first phase). ● Inner Mongolia Xilin Gol’s 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil project. ● CNOOC and Inner Mongolia Tianye Chemical Group’s 3–5 million tons per year coal-to-oil project. ● Anglo American Resources Group’s Anglo American Coal Chemicals project (located in Yulin, Shaanxi), involving 5 million tons per year of methanol and 1.7 million tons per year of olefins, with an investment of 50 billion yuan. ● Shenhua Group’s Sasol Company’s 10 million tons per year coal indirect liquefaction project. ● Yunnan Coal Chemical Group’s 300,000 tons per year methanol project and 100,000 tons per year dimethyl ether project. ● Tianfu Chemical (located in Guizhou)’s 1.6 million tons per year methanol project, 150,000 tons per year dimethyl ether project, and 500,000 tons per year olefin project. The 300,000 tons/year synthetic ammonia project has an initial investment of 2.56 billion yuan. 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 150,000 tons of dimethyl ether production have already started; construction was completed in 2008. ● Anhui Huahua Group’s projects include a 1.2 million tons per year methanol plant, a 200,000 tons per year dimethyl ether plant, a 200,000 tons per year acetic acid plant, a 374,000 tons per year olefins plant, a 102,800 tons per year gasoline plant, and a 38,900 tons per year LPG plant. The total investment in these projects is 7.5 billion yuan; construction began in 2006, with the methanol-to-olefins project to be built between 2008 and 2010 ； Dimethyl ether/acetic acid projects: Construction from 2010 to 2012. ● Hualu Hengsheng Group (existing capacity): 260,000 tons/year methanol plant, 1 million tons/year alcohol-ether fuel plant, 480,000 tons/year synthetic ammonia plant; the figures in parentheses represent capacities established by 2015. ● Shanxi Jincheng Anthracite Coal Industry Group (existing capacity): 1.596 million tons/year synthetic ammonia plant, 2.08 million tons/year urea plant. ● Ordos United Chemical Co., Ltd.: 600,000 tons/year synthetic ammonia plant, 1.04 million tons/year urea plant; investment of 30 billion yuan. ● Hubei Yihua Group (new capacity): 200,000 tons/year methanol plant, 2 million tons/year urea plant, 500,000 tons/year polyvinyl chloride plant, 500,000 tons/year caustic soda plant. ● Xiyang Group (project location: Liaoning): 3 million tons/year coke plant, 900,000 tons/year methanol plant. ● Shanxi Fengxi Fertilizer Industry: From 2008 to 2010, 1.6 million tons/year methanol plant, 2 million tons/year synthetic ammonia plant, 3.6 million tons/year urea plant. ● Zhongyuan Dahua Group Co., Ltd.: 300,000 tons/year methanol plant, 100,000 tons/year dimethyl ether plant, 300,000 tons/year acetic acid plant, 180,000 tons/year formaldehyde plant. ● Shanxi Lanhua Group: 1.5 million tons/year methanol plant, 1 million tons/year dimethyl ether plant, 600,000 tons/year propylene plant; investment of 33.8 billion yuan. Projects for 200,000 tons/year methanol and 100,000 tons/year dimethyl ether began construction in April 2006. ● Sinopec Corporation, China National Coal Energy Group Corporation, Shenneng (Group) Co., Ltd., China Yintai Investment Co., Ltd., and Inner Mongolia Manshi Coal Group Co., Ltd. jointly invested in building a 4.2 million tons/year methanol plant and a 3 million tons/year dimethyl ether plant; investment of 21 billion yuan. ● Kailuan Coal Chemical Co., Ltd.: 2 million tons/year coal tar plant, 100,000 tons/year methanol plant. ● Qinghai Qinghua Mining and Metallurgy Group: 2 million tons/year coal tar plant. ● Fuxin, Liaoning: 600,000 tons/year (4 million tons/year) methanol plant. ● Inner Mongolia Qinghua Group: 3 million tons/year coke plant, 450,000 tons/year coal-to-oil plant, 300,000 tons + 1 million tons/year methanol plant. ● Salt Lake Group Company: 1 million tons/year methanol plant. ● Shuangyashan Luneng Baoqing: 1.8 million tons/year methanol plant, coal-to-olefins plant. ● Shaanxi Coal Chemical Industry: 30 million tons/year coal-to-oil plant, 20 million tons/year methanol plant, 6 million tons/year olefins plant; scheduled to come online in 2020. ● Luneng Baoqing Coal, Electricity, and Chemicals Development Company (project location: Heilongjiang): 1.8 million tons/year methanol plant, 400,000 tons/year dimethyl ether plant; construction has already begun. ● Shibaozi Development Zone in Huating County, Gansu: 600,000 tons/year methanol plant; investment of 2.7 billion yuan; future plans include coal-to-olefins production. ● China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation and **Yiye Investment Group Corporation (project location: Yuheng, Shaanxi): 2.4 million tons/year methanol plant, 800,000 tons/year olefins plant; investment of 15.5 billion yuan.
