There are currently many methods for sulfur recovery. Could someone please help me summarize which ones they are? What methods are used for using natural gas as a raw material? What is used for high-sulfur coal, and what about low-sulfur coal?
1. In chemical plants that use natural gas as a raw material, since the natural gas supplied from the distribution stations is already desulfurized, the desulfurization equipment in such plants is almost useless; therefore, sulfur recovery is even less feasible. Sulfur recovery mainly takes place at natural gas distribution stations. 2. When choosing a sulfur recovery method for chemical plants that use coal as raw material, it depends on the concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the exhaust gases, and it is not greatly influenced by the sulfur content in the coal. If the hydrogen sulfide concentration in your exhaust gases is below 30% (which is the range for exhaust gas concentrations in NHD desulfurization units), then when choosing a sulfur recovery system, you can opt for Linde’s Clinsulf process (which requires a minimum hydrogen sulfide concentration of 3–7%) or Shell-Paques biological desulfurization technology (an relatively new process that has no requirements regarding hydrogen sulfide concentration and offers good desulfurization results). If the concentration of hydrogen sulfide in your exhaust gases exceeds 30%, you have a wider range of options when choosing a sulfur recovery system. You can opt for the SSR method developed by Shandong Sanwei, the MCRC method offered by Canadian company Delta, the Super Claus method provided by Dutch company Comprimo, as well as the Claus method. Of course, you can also choose the Shell-Paques biological desulfurization technology mentioned above. In my personal opinion, when it comes to choosing a method for sulfur recovery, it is best not to opt for the conventional Claus process, as its sulfur removal capability does not meet environmental standards. The Clinsulf process at Tianjin Zhonghuan is also an immature system (with quite severe sulfur content in the exhaust gases).
I would like to clarify: The emission standards specify two aspects: 1. The quality of emissions per unit of time by the emitting entity. 2. Concentration of exhaust gases. Only SSR can meet the standards successfully, and it has strong mobility; traditional SCOT processes such as biological desulfurization and Zhenhai’s version are also capable. However, Super Claus and Ultra-Claus processes are not yet mature
Someone upstairs, may I ask: in what aspects are Super and Ultra Premium lacking? Please share your insights and opinions. Thank you! !
Well said :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol
The main issue is that the exhaust gas concentrations do not meet the standards; installing an exhaust treatment system helps a lot. Additionally, with more reactors in use, the requirements for catalysts increase as well. Relatively speaking, it’s quite troublesome when problems arise related to catalytic reactions. It seems that such systems are not widely used in China at present, so there is also less experience in this area.
