Where does the noise of a centrifugal pump come from? I repaired two identical third-stage centrifugal pumps yesterday; after installation and testing, the pressure was normal in both cases, but one of the pumps made very little noise ; The other one has a louder sound, accompanied by intermittent loud noises. 1. Quality issues with the new bearings; some are refurbished bearings, and their quality may not be up to standard. 2. Whether the rotor is well dynamically balanced. 3. Alignment condition. 4. Are the foundation bolts loose? 5. I wonder what the situation was with the pump that makes loud noise before? If it was like this before, check the construction quality of the foundation and the process pipelines.
In my opinion, if the pump is vibrating properly, then the noise from the pump may be caused by process-related factors
1. When the pump operates under cavitation conditions, even if there is no erosion of the wall materials, an increase in noise, heightened vibration, reduced efficiency, and a decrease in head can be observed. 2. Coupling losses 3. Rotor dynamic imbalance 4. Too small a gap between the rotor and stator, resulting in severe friction
The noise level of multi-stage pumps is much higher compared to that of single-stage pumps. I think this is mainly due to their higher pressure ratings.

Taking into account the suggestions from floors 2 and 4, more effort should also be put into aligning things vertically.
