As the title suggests, what are the differences? And in what situations are they applicable?
Constant-force spring brackets provide a steady supporting force, preventing any changes in stress within the piping system. Variable spring brackets, on the other hand, undergo some deformation, which results in varying levels of support force. For pipelines where minimal displacement is required, constant-force springs are generally used. Just trying to stimulate discussion; I’m not entirely sure either, and I look forward to a comprehensive explanation.
1. Spring supports belong to load-bearing supports and are used in situations where vertical displacement occurs. Specific application scenarios include: 1. Due to the vertical upward displacement of the pipeline at the support points, ordinary supports may lose their load-bearing capacity, causing adjacent supports to exceed their load limits or the span of the pipeline to go beyond the maximum allowable value. 2. The pipe experiences a vertical downward displacement at the support points; if rigid supports are used, they will prevent the pipe from moving. If vertical displacement of the pipe is not allowed at these points, then spring supports can be used. 3. When selecting a spring, ensure that its load variation rate is no more than 25%. (Operating load – Installation load) / Operating load. 4. When selecting springs, they can be connected in series (when the load variation rate exceeds 25%) or in parallel (when the maximum load is insufficient). II. Constant-force hangers are used in situations where there is significant vertical displacement, or where it is necessary to maintain a constant load at the support points of the pipes regardless of whether they are in cold or hot conditions. Specifically, when the pipeline experiences vertical displacement at the support points and it is required that the variation in supporting force be kept within 8%, a constant-force frame is used.
A constant-force spring support bracket is a mechanical device designed based on the principle of torque balance. Pipes and equipment can be suspended and supported using spring hangers; in this case, when the pipes or equipment shift, as long as the displacement remains within a predetermined range, they will always receive a constant supporting force from the spring hangers, regardless of the magnitude of the displacement. This prevents any additional pressure from being applied to the pipes or equipment, thus avoiding serious equipment failures and safety accidents. Generally, in critical areas where there is significant thermal displacement, it is advisable to consider using constant-force spring hangers, which are being increasingly employed in conventional thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, as well as in various thermal power systems in the oil and chemical industries.
