With the continuous drop in temperatures over the past few days, the Aromatics Plant of Yangzi Petrochemical has mobilized personnel to conduct inspections and assessments in various areas to check the frost protection and insulation measures in place for all equipment on site. The main focus of these inspections was to evaluate the responsibilities assigned for frost protection and insulation in each unit, as well as the actual implementation of insulation measures in key areas, with the aim of ensuring that the equipment can survive the winter safely. The aromatic compounds plant began working on this year’s anti-freezing and insulation tasks in September. By mid-November, it had completed the insulation of the steam pipelines as well as various heat tracing pipelines. Meanwhile, the plant’s electrical and instrumentation station and related company took measures to insulate hundreds of precision instruments, and also insulated all 1,600 sets of instrument air heat tracing pipelines throughout the plant ； The main instrument insulation system inside the device has been given a new covering” ； At the xylene and benzene production plants, insulation work on some pumps was also completed by the end of October, taking into account the characteristics of the materials used there. The aromatic compound complex has tens of thousands of meters of pipelines that require special anti-freezing and insulation measures, as well as over 700 pieces of precision equipment. In light of the fact that the equipment was in operation beyond its intended lifespan, the plant increased the frequency of inspections, focusing on areas that are difficult to reach, high up, or in blind spots. Responsibility systems were established for key and critical areas, and taking advantage of the opportunities to address equipment defects, the insulation material on some pipelines was replaced, and the insulation on multiple sections of pipelines that were exposed was renewed. In each workshop, the supervising managers are personally in charge of preventing freezing and ensuring insulation. They adopt a method of addressing issues while simultaneously providing insulation, and all pipelines and instruments that require insulation must be confirmed by technicians to be leak-free. The plant also carried out leak repair on the system as well as inspections of some high-pressure steam pipelines during the process of checking for leaks in the water system; all these tasks have now been completed. In preparation for the possible arrival of cold snaps at any time, the aromatic compounds plant has taken thorough precautions; it has fully activated its anti-freezing and insulation measures, and actively drained water from the instrument air filtering and pressure relief valves as well as from the pressure guiding pipelines where process fluids are prone to accumulate water. On the other hand, the plant’s mechanical department also did its best to ensure that the insulation materials were available; they sent relevant personnel to various workshops to assess the situation and took the initiative to coordinate the submission and transportation of these materials, thereby eliminating unnecessary procedures. Each workshop also focuses on special maintenance equipment during inspections, thereby enhancing the sense of responsibility among the staff responsible for these inspections and ensuring the stable operation of the equipment.
